We travelled through George and the Outeniqua pass on our way to Oudthoorn and went straight to our guesthouse "Shades of Africa"  so as to place our luggage in our rooms before we made our way to the awesome Swartberg Mountains. The below pictures were all taken on our journey through the mountain range.

We arrived at Prince Albert and after exploring the town we had lunch at "Sampie se plaasstal" (Sampie's farm stall) where the delightful owner, Barbara, served us a wholesome homecooked lunch.

Kev and Amy sitting in the garden restaurant of "Sampie se plaasstal".

We travelled back to Oudtshoorn via the "one horse town" of Klaarstroom and took this picture of Amy in front of an old time pump action diesel provider.

We travelled on through the awesome canyon of Meiringspoort and took this photo of Amy and Kev at one of the stops we made while driving through the canyon that splits the Swartberge in two.

We arrived back at Oudtshoorn and took a breather at Shades of Africa before going to enjoy the wonderful dinner that was awaiting us at Jemimas.

After our awesome buffet dinner at Jemimas we took this picture outside the restaurant entrance.

29 March 2002 - (Friday)

We had breakfast at Shades as seen in the below picture and then started our travelling back to Stellenbosch and Cathbert Country House.

On our way back we simply had to stop at the legendary "Ronnies Sex Shop" which is a pub in the desert. As can be seen many bikers shared our interest in the venue.

After arriving at Cathbert Country House we lazed around the swimming pool and then had a delightful dinner at the guesthouse.

30 March 2002

This day was our winelands tour day and after having breakfast at Cathbert we made our way to the next door farm viz. Plaisir de Merle where the next 2 pictures were taken.

We stopped at Bilton winefarm, tasted the wine, bought a bottle of Merlot and then took this picture in front of the wonderful scenery at the farm.

We travelled on to the Cheetah Foundation where Amy and Kev had an opportunity to stroke Nyana, however it was a hot day and Nyana was rather fidgety resulting in the fact that there was no time to take a picture of the event. Here we see Amy in front of Zaza and Savannah's area at the Foundation.

Hooray - As can be seen below the picture on Amy's camera worked before Nyana decided to get frisky.

We then travelled through Stellenbosch and then on to Kayamandi

The wonderful Shumi Nlebe relates her life history to Amy and Kev in her kitchen

The above and below picture show how friendly the children of Kayamandi were with Amy & Kev.

After our Kayamandi visit we travelled to and toured Stellenbosch where we had lunch at "The Wharf". This is where Amy and Kev had their first taste of snoek.

We returned to Cathbert Country House and lazed around at the pool. In the evening we returned to Stellenbosch and had dinner at Rozendal where the picture below was taken.

We met up and shared some bubbly with Jaime and Douglas from Houston, Texas who were enjoying their honeymoon in Cape Town

The next 2 pictures tell their own story. J

For our last dinner together we went to the Jewel Tavern where we had an outstanding meal. It seems as if Kev is saying "wow it was a great meal and a great holiday" while Amy looks as if she has had a great time and is ready to start her Trek in the Cederberge for AIDS awareness

Amy and Kev were a wonderful couple to travel with. They were always adventurous and were happy to have a go at anything. Furthermore they took each day in their stride in the easiest of manners. This all made our touring together such a special event and there are many wonderful memories that I will take from this tour with me into the future.

THANKS a ton for your wonderful company Amy and Kev. A big THANK YOU also goes to you from the people of Kayamandi for your generous donation to the community.
