I met Victoria and Sam at the Commodore Hotel and as per the plan we originally worked out we set off on a Winelands tour.

We travelled back to Stellenbosch after our visit to Rust en Vrede and I took this photo of Sam at the Danie Craven statue at Coetzenberg.

We travelled on to the Ikamva Lethu Center where we found the choir "spirit of peace practising where Sam and Victoria very happilly joined in with their practice.

After our visit to Kayamandi we went to the Ocean Basket for dinner and then travelled back to Cape Town

We travelled to Clara Ann Fontein and had lunch on the farm as well as did a game drive. Here we see Victoria and Sam (in mirror) looking at a Blesbok on the farm

We started our day by travelling to Muizenberg. The wind was rather heavy as the below photos show

We stopped in for coffee at the Money Tree restaurant where Joan and Galia served us.

After walking the Treasure Mile in Kalk Bay we travelled via Fish Hoek and Simonstown to the penguin colony at Boulders Beach

We travelled to Cape Point where it certainly was windy as the picture shows. JJJ

We stopped in at the Statutes and that is not a real elephant running away behind Victoria. JJJ

After our trip up the Mountain we moved on to the Africa Cafe where we had a fantastic African feast to end our tour.

This was a great mother and son team; fabulous upstanding citizens to travel with and most important a very happy tour to have done. We had a wonderful time wherever we went and fun was had by all at all times. I can but only hope that Sam's visit to Cape Town will become a highlight in his very exciting "gap year journey".

Wow - have just cruised through the fantabulous portrait gallery you put together for us. What a brilliant record of our tour with you. What wonderful and very special memories you gave us too. Am back in UK now - been good weather (but not hot) this weekend. Been with Toby (14) on his go-kart racing. He did really well and won a trophy - so all happy. Watched the rugby on a big screen at kart track - what an exciting game. Thank goodness for us to have Jonny Wilkinson. Next weekend final between Oz and us will be such a nail biter..........are you going to be with a crowd to watch it? I know Sam will be back at the Sports Cafe in Cape town. Poor boy - he has been cooking for himself since I left and with rather mixed results. Feasts at the Africa Cafe must seem like memories from heaven. Of course I miss him but he is having great time with his kite and loved our time together. Thanks so much for your huge ( or yooge as you would say) contribution to our shared experience of the Cape.

As soon as I load the photos I took I will email you the ones I took of the kids. If you could let them have copies I would be so thrilled. It would also be great if you could email me back with their names.

What was the wine site you recommended? Am lusting for pinotage. Sam is definitely hooked on Merlot now too. You see how you will always be with us - definitely in spirit ( well vino) although not in body.
