I met Nessa and Rich at The Cape Grace Hotel where they were straying while they visited Cape Town. It was fortuitous that I was to tour with the Levines as a fellow tourguide had unfortunately taken ill and I stood in for him to tour Richard and Nessa in his place. All I can say is that it was basherd (fated) that this happened. After meeting up at the Cape Grace we set off on a city + Kirstenbosch tour

We started our journey at the South African Jewish museum

After our visit to the museum we ascended Table Mountain. It was cold atop of the mountain as the above picture shows. JJ

We spotted this paraglider flying high above Table Mountain

After our visit to Table Mountain we did a short city tour and moved onto Kirstenbosch botanical gardens in the Claremont area.

Day 2

19 September 2011

On this day we did a Cape Peninsula tour

While stopping in at Sweet Nothings so as to buy pies for lunch Richard and Nessa read up about the background of the historic building in Simonstown

We stopped in at Jubilee Square in Simonstown where I took this picture of Richard

With Able Seaman Just Nuisance in Simonstown

After leaving Jubilee Square in Simonstown we paid a visit to the penguin colony on Boulders Beach. Thereafter we had a picnic type lunch at the very scenic Rumbly Bay.

We travelled onto the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve where we visited Cape Point as well as the Cape of Good hope as the most south western point of Africa as the above picture shows.

After our visit to the Cape of Good Hope Nature reserve we travelled on via Scarborough, Kommetjie, Chapmans Peak and Hout Bay back to Cape Town and eventually the Cape Grace Hotel.

Day 3

22 September 2011

On this day I met the Levines at Grootbos in Gansbaai. They had been staying on the Nature farm for the past two days and it was our intention to travel back to Cape Town via the scenic Franschhoek Pass.

We travelled through Hermanus to peregrines farmstall in Grabouw. After stopping in at the farmstall we moved onto Franschhoek

The Levines walking in the main road of Franschhoek doing window shopping

Richard awaits Nessa patiently while she selects postcards a\t a Franschhoek store

At Bread and wine on Moreson winefarm where we had a great lunch

After our visit to Franschhoek we moved onto Stellenbosch

At Graafs winefarm where we took in the wonderful view from the vineyards on the farm.

After our stop at Graafs we travelled into Stellenbosch where we took a tour of the country town taking in the university, interesting sites in the town as well as taking a short walk in the shop part of town.

When we completed our tour in Stellenbosch we travelled back to Cape Town and the Cape Grace Hotel.

Travelling with Rich and Nessa was a joy that was very difficult to describe as it was so great. The Levines were such wonderful company and as we had so much in common the conversation in the tour vehicle never stopped. While this was happening we covered most of the Cape Town as well as the Cape winelands region and overall had a wonderful tour together. I felt very lucky to meet up with the Levines as it was a chance experience from my side. To me it was a wonderful lucky break to have done so as you could not find more of a mensch than Richard while Nessa was an unbelievably giving, friendly and wonderful lady to have in my car with me. What a tour!
