I met newlyweds Peter and Christine at their Cape Town apartment and after becoming acquainted we set off on a cultural journey by visiting the township of Kayamandi
We first travelled out to Paarl and visited the Afrikaans Language monument. Unfortunately I lost the photos of this experience and am hoping that Peter's photos will eventually act as a good fill in for this part of this webpage.
Enjoying a traditional Xhosa lunch with Lily at her home
Listening to Lily and her daughters Thuli and Atie singing in their home
Outside Lily's home showing off the great view in Kayamandi
Christine having fun with the Masakahne dancers
Meeting many kids at Nosandile's shack home
Handing out fruit to the kids in exchange for trash
Meeting the kids of Zone J
Attending a church service in Zone J
All in all this was a great day purely because the Reinelts brought so much extra to the journey. We had much discussion above all that we were experiencing and I do believe that Christine and Peter now have a much better idea about what township life in Kayamandi truly entails.
THANKS FOR A WONDERFUL DAY
